Road along Ho Chi Minh Trail 12 days

 

Visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts and the One Pillar Pagoda. Continue on to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Ethnology, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and enjoy riding in a rickshaw for 1 hour in the Old Quarter of Hanoi and its teeming streets filled with fascinating shops.

Take a morning flight to transfer to the ancient Imperial Capital of Vietnam. After arrival we will test our bikes cycling along the Perfume River to two wonderful examples of Imperial architecture, the majestic Khai Dinh and Tu Duc Royal Tombs. After lunch, cycling through the Citadel, familiar from images of the 1968 Tet Offensive, and to the peaceful Thien Mu Pagoda. Dinner free to partake of Hue's local delicacies such as crab soup, ban sao — Vietnamese pancakes, and frozen creme caramel. Accommodation at a hotel on the banks of the Perfume River.
  

Depart Hue along a unknown coastal road with no traffic to the Hai Van Pass. Our route passes by rural villages and the picturesque Lang Co Lagoon, then ascend the six-mile road over the Hai Van offering stunning views of the coast and a thrilling descent on the backside to the green rice fields and white-sand graveyards around Danang. Continued riding or shuttle in the van the remaining route to avoid traffic near Danang. Arrive in Hoi An, typically a favorite stop. Accommodation at the 5-star resort.

City tour of Hoi An, an ancient Japanese port of trade. Much of Hoi An's rare wooden architecture remains in this small, pleasant town. We will explore the elegant pagodas, bustling riverfront marketplace and distinctive cuisine. Enjoy in Cua Dai Beach. Late afternoon Vietnamese cooking demonstration in town featuring local specialties by one of Vietnam's most talented chefs, or free time on your own for a boat excursion on the river.

Ride or shuttle outside the busier traffic around Hoi An. Ascending on quiet, country road into the mountains of the central highlands, passing through green hills, jungle forest and sparse villages. Challenging climbs until picnic lunch. Roll hills and lush scenery all the way to small, picturesque town of Phuoc Son, in a mountain valley near a cascading river. Overnight at local guesthouse.

The route covers sections of the famed Ho Chi Minh Trail. Hilltribe villages dot the landscape and we'll stop for lunch in one. After lunch, continued riding until sunand transfer to Kontum City, a small highlands town also well known from the war period. Accommodation at mini-hotel.

Morning shuttle to Pleiku, a large scenic central highlands city. Over Ham Rong Pass from Pleiku passing many nearby former military bases, including Plei Me and the Ia Drang Valley. Pass through pine forests, tea and coffee plantations, and Montagnard "hilltribe" villages. Late arrival in Ban Me Thuot. Total cycling mileage 80 miles. Accommodation at mini-hotel.

Go through pretty valleys, countryside, and grueling passes. After breakfast, shuttle up the road for about an hour and a half to beautiful Lak Lake. Ride to Dalat over several passes, through forests and past hilltribe long houses. Late afternoon, arrive in the jewel of the highlands, Dalat, with railway station, cathedral, and hundreds of dilapidated villas. Return to luxury hotel.

A half-day spin to see Dalat's more interesting sites, including monk Vien Thuc’s Pagoda, Bao Dai Palace and the eccentric Valley of Love. Afternoon and evening free to sightsee, rest or partake of the many good restaurants in town.

Depart from Dalat, back down to the coastal plain and the famous sand dunes of Mui Ne on the southern coast. Nearby Phan Thiet is famous for fish sauces, coveted by Vietnamese everywhere. After afternoon arrival, massage and dip in the ocean or pool. Dinner free to sample one of the many great local seafood restaurants. Overnight at the tranquil Mui Ne Beach Resort.
  

This day is free in Mui Ne to laze by the pool, snorkel, boat, kite surf or explore the incredible sand dunes along the coast. Optional afternoon cycling ten miles to Hon Rom Beach and back. Dinner in Phan Thiet. Overnight at the Mui Ne Resort.

2. CAN I POSTPONE OR CANCEL  MY TRIP? 
All purchases are final and you will need to agree with our term & conditions before confirming your order. In some cases, your booking will be cancelled or postponed for a future day.  However, if you need to cancel within 14 days we may state in our conditions that we will charge cancellation fees. 

3. IF I PURCHASE A PACKAGES, CAN I TRAVEL IN REVERSE DIRECTION?
Yes, our packages are made up on individual travel vouchers, which can be use in any order.  You may want to travel our intineraries in reverse or you may want to complete your package over a number of short trip.

4. DO YOU OFFER LONGER OR MORE CUSTOMIZE TOUR?

5. I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS – WILL THEY BE CATERED FOR?
We will try our best to accommodate all dietary requirements but in some out-of-the-way places it can be very difficult to guarantee. We will let you know if there are places on your itinerary where this is the case. Please let us know at the time of booking of any food requirements or allergies and we will pass the information onto your leader. It is also a great idea to bring a card with your dietary requirements written in local language for those time you are eating away from the group.

6. WHAT IS THE CURRENCY IN MY DESTINATION?
It is a good idea to travel with a credit card and ATM card. In Vietnam, the US Dollars and Euros are more widely accepted than other currencies (off course, out of VN Dong). However, in some cases, at some hotels they can accept your local currency but not very much.

9. WHAT IS AN EXTRA COST?
An extra cost is something you will pay direct to the tour or hotel upon arrival. Or, something is mentioned in NOT INCLUDED.  Most of Amity Smile trips are “All Clusive” meaning no extra fees will need to be paid. 

10. HOW DO I KNOW  MY RESERVATION IS CONFIRMED?
After you make an online booking, we will follow up with you to confirm availability and confirm the booking.  Your reservation is not confirmed until receive this follow up email or fax. 

11. CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO THE ITINERARY  OF MY GROUP TRIP, EITHER BEFORE OR DURING THE TRIP?
Please make sure that you are happy with your group trip itinerary before booking because we are unable to change them for individual travelers. However, if you and a group of friends, colleagues,…would like your own personally designed itinerary, get in touch with our travel consultants, they can tailor an itinerary just for you.

12.IN CASE OF EMERGENCY ON TOUR, WHO WILL I CONTACT?
When on tour, your tour guide is the first person of contact. We have our own hotline,  so emergency assistance is available 24hours per day. Please see the office contact details listed on your itinerary or on your voucher. 

13. I AM NOT READY TO BOOK RIGHT NOW,  WHAT SHOULD I DO?
For flights, you can make a booking and then we can hold the booking for a limited period of time until you are ready to purchase and issue the ticket. When you make a booking, we will inform you of the amount of time until the ticket must be issued since this time frame varies by airline.
For hotels, in order to make a booking and hold a room, you must confirm and pay immediately. Unfortunately, we cannot hold a hotel booking for you without payment.
For tours, as tours are related to hotels booking. We will need you 30% for Deposit. This amount is to cover our costs if you cancel the tour. Almost is for cancellation charges of hotels/resorts.
